LUSANGAZI, March 30, 2026 — Lusangazi Town Council joined the rest of the nation in commemorating the Presidential Delivery Day held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, under the 2026 theme, “From Commitments to Results.”
The event, organised by the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), was officiated by the Republican President, Hakainde Hichilema, who delivered a keynote address emphasizing the importance of embracing reforms to enhance service delivery across the country.
President Hichilema urged public service workers and stakeholders to step out of their comfort zones and adopt innovative approaches for improved effectiveness. In a strong call to action, he stressed that the focus must be on results rather than processes. He clarified that while processes are not inherently bad, they must ultimately serve as a means to an end, delivering tangible outcomes for the people. He further emphasized that citizens should take national development as a personal responsibility, noting that collective interest must always take precedence for the nation to thrive.
The President highlighted the importance of effectively communicating government programmes to the public, including initiatives such as free education and skills development, in order to help citizens understand and appreciate the national vision. He also underscored the need to review and reform systems and processes that are not yielding desired results.
Speaking of governance, President Hichilema reiterated the significance of decentralisation in improving service delivery at the local level. He further emphasized the critical role of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), reiterating his usual three-fold way of delivery: Quality, Cost-effectiveness, and Timely delivery of projects. He noted that the impactful implementation of the CDF, guided by these principles, is key to transforming communities and fostering appreciation of government efforts among citizens.
The Head of State commended the Presidential Delivery Unit for its continued efforts in ensuring the effective implementation of presidential directives and government programmes aimed at improving livelihoods across the country.
President Hichilema also expressed satisfaction with progress made in the education sector, particularly the delivery of desks to schools and the implementation of the school feeding programme, noting that no child should learn while sitting on the floor. These initiatives, he said, are vital in creating a conducive learning environment nationwide.
In the health sector, the President highlighted achievements such as the reduction in maternal mortality rates, increased availability of essential medicines, and the construction of health posts and maternity annexes across constituencies. He further noted that all 156 ambulances procured by the government have been delivered and are currently being utilised across the country.
Additionally, the President called for increased collaboration with the private sector, describing it as a key partner in driving national development and economic growth.
Earlier, PDU Director Ms. Kamwambi reiterated the Unit’s commitment to ensuring that government programmes translate into tangible results for the people, in line with the 2026 theme.
Lusangazi Town Council was represented by Council Secretary Mr. Tembo Sekani, Director Finance Mr. Chibuta Lushinga, and Assistant Public Relations Officer Ms. Margaret Nachangwa.
The Presidential Delivery Day serves as a platform for tracking progress, addressing implementation bottlenecks, and reinforcing government’s commitment to delivering improved services and development outcomes for all Zambians.
